MoOD is all about innovation this year and is also accentuating contract. Two domains where textiles take the pole position. MoOD positions itself with this at the nexus of the future, where design and innovation converge. Because there are a lot of innovations at the ready to be brought to market. What is more, they could radically change the face of the textiles industry in the years to come. The contract market, for years already MoOD's fave, has a leading role to play in this. With its often cutting-edge projects, it gives innovations sufficient exposure for broader penetration.

Blue Drops and Innovation Platform brought together
Innovatie and creativity are inextricable. They lift each other up, as it were. That is why the Innovation Platform and Blue Drops are being housed together in the Discovery Zone in hall 7. The broad selection is displayed on the sample banks. Fabrics with a Blue Drop label, so the ones nominated by the panel of judges, are presented separately. The best of the best, the Blue Drop Awards, have their own separate presentation, at the centre of the Discovery Zone.
Innovation Platform twice as big
The size of the Innovation Platform has doubled, thanks to the contribution of three new partners. Global Color Research, the publisher house of Mix Magazine and Mix Trends ; the Linen Dream Lab, innovation showroom of CELC Masters of Linen and Trendease International LLC each selected 20 to 30 samples for the innovative samples bank. Added to the strong selection by MateriO and the spontaneous submissions of exhibitors and non-exhibitors of MoOD, so a never before seen source of innovation inspiration awaits you.
Seminar on innovation in textiles
On Wednesday morning, 12 September innovations are weighed and considered during the seminar 'For The Love of Innovation'. The reason is not so much the fact that innovation is 'in' but more the vision of ex-prof. Marco Waas of the incubator YES!Delft. He believes in a sustainable re-industrialization of Europe, that he feels will be driven by cutting-edge innovations.
Marco Waas will elucidate his viewpoint as keynote speaker. Also there are speakers on the programme who will briefly share their experiences or vision of innovations in textiles with those attending. The seminar promises to be an eye-opener.
'Incontournable' in contract
MoOD has a tradition in the contract market. It was the first textile trade show to broadly dedicate itself to it. Rightly so, it turns out, because as the contract market became more specific, the threshold of entry became higher. In this dynamic industry, there is hardly any room for non-specialists. The contract market not only places very specific demands on textiles, the projects have also become more eccentric now and also more often include exterior in addition to interior upholstery. The need for original designs customized to a project is still growing. But especially the demand for new functionalities makes for a never-before-seen dynamism. So not only is there more attention to fire-retardant, insulating or acoustic properties, but everything is in motion also when it comes to interaction, energy and light. Many innovatoins find their way into trend-setting projects in the contract market. Because volumes are higher here and the deadlines for delivery are so tight, contract specialists tend not to take any risk and opt for textile companies who can provide flawless references. MoOD has grown along with this market, in terms of knowledge and experience, and can proudly say that the largest and newest range can be found here at this trade show.
Trevira CS and MoOD join forces
The icing on the cake of years of cooperation between MoOD and Trevira CS is the brand new Trevira CS Square. Here Trevira CS brings the 11 hottest names from the contract world together in one square. The Trevira CS Square borrows from the tried and tested Contract Square where another 40 specialized exhibitors show their strongest products. With these highly specialized contract specialists, 51 total, the contract range at MoOD has never been bigger, let alone never before so impressive.
MoOD +
- Outdoor
The demand for outdoor textiles with the right properties continues to rise. But it is a slow climb. The decorative and tactile elements of textiles are irreplaceable in comparison with what the cold materials have to offer. But the demands are high. Thirty specialists offer products that meet these requirements. In the outdoor area between halls 7 and 11, a cozy and even interactive outdoor scene will again be created.
- The 'Guided Tours' are being organized this year again as well. Your guides, Niek De Prest (Trend Coach MoOD) andJennifer Castoldi (Trendease), will depart this year from the Discovery Zone. The Guided Tours are the quickest, most efficient way to discover or re-discover the trade fair.
- Relax this year in the Fluxus Trend Café. A serene place where you can eat and drink while gaining inspiration from the trends of the MoOD trend book 'Fluxus'.
What you need to know about MoOD
MoOD is a breeding ground for innovation and creativity
With the slogan 'Meet only Original Designs', the organization describes the unique range of MoOD in 'great Europe'. After all, MoOD is the most specialized and, with its 215 exhibitors, also the largest trade show grouping producers of upholstery fabrics, wall and window coverings. 90% of the exhibitors offer upholstery fabrics. Window coverings were introduced just a few years ago at MoOD but can already be found among 70% of all exhibitors. Wall covering focuses on a niche market of high-end products with textiles. 12% of the exhibitors offer them. Besides the textiles, leather and simulated leather have an important place at the trade show.
The exhibitors of MoOD are predominantly weavers with their own design team.
215 exhibitors of MoOD are producer and owner of the collection
80% come from great Europe
MoOD groups products from 25 countries
MoOD thus is strongly internationally orientated and also receives visitors from around the world.
The visitors to MoOD are textile professionals: editeurs, project developers, wholesalers, furniture manufacturers, decorators, textile buyers for accessories,...
Indigo and MoOD Yarns
MoOD is flanked by two sister trade shows, Indigo and MoOD Yarns. Indigo brings the design range for the next years to the trade show, with 100 exhibitors.
MoOD Yarns has grown from 7 to 11 exhibitors. The references from the interior sector are present at MoOD today. Six of these MoOD Yarns exhibitors are specialized in threads for the contract market. Their partnership with Trevira CS is at the basis of this. They also took the challenge to create some interesting prototypes together with MoOD exhibitors. These are shown in the Discovery Zone. The best design will take the Blue Drop Yarns award home.
We believe...
MoOD believes that there is a future for production companies (in Europe). And we are not alone in that belief. In the economic news, there are again reports of European businesses considering bringing their production closer to home. The lack of flexibility, the high transport costs, the ecological footprint and rate at which costs increase lie at the basis of a new trend that is gradually developing. But instead of investing in even greater capacity, these companies will go looking for new forms of cooperation. If there is already a new industrial future for Europe, it will be grounded in cooperation, in the exchange of knowhow, in sharing knowledge of local markets and even sharing infrastructure. In the complex world in which we market products, this will not be added value, but a necessity. MoOD believes that innovations will be a great stimulant for a resurgence. We will take our international role in this to heart in the years to come.
